About

The company behind the registry.

Gold ID is the commercial brand of Gold Heritage ID Vision FlexCo, an Austrian company. We are building the Gold ID registry: a public record of laboratory examinations of physical gold coins.

How we work

Four principles.

  1. Say exactly what was measured

A record shows which laboratory examined a coin, when, and what has happened since. Our screens say exactly that, in plain words.

  2. Keep people off the chain

No names, images or profiles are written to the chain. The app collects no name.

  3. Make every change visible

No party can alter a recorded event through the contracts, and a weekly anchor on Ethereum makes chain-level changes visible.

  4. Hand over control

Gold ID runs the registry at launch and will hand its operation to an independent Foundation.

At launch

Who runs what.

  • Gold ID

Builds the holder app, the terminal software and the lookup service, runs the fee sponsor and rents the servers for the profile store and the matching service.

  • Registrar

Admits laboratories and terminals and posts the weekly anchor. At launch it has two signing keys, one held by Gold ID and one by an independent party.

  • Laboratories

Examine images of coins and sign every registration, attestation and result.

Road to launch

Built in the right order.

Commercial launch follows written conditions, among them the four below. The handover to an independent Foundation comes after.

  1. Independent contract audit

The record contract, the escrow and the registry are audited independently before deployment. The record contract cannot be patched afterwards, so the audit comes first.

  2. Data protection assessment

A data protection impact assessment covers the register, the app, the profile store and the laboratories.

  3. Independent registrar signer

The registrar’s two signers are appointed, one of them independent of Gold ID, and the accreditation standard for laboratories is adopted.

  4. Recognition targets met

Recognition targets are agreed in writing before the production rig is measured. Launch follows once the rig meets them.

  5. Handover to a Foundation

After launch, an independent Foundation will take over the registrar role, the profile store, the terminal whitelist and the anchor, on a timetable published before launch.
