The Gold ID registry
A public record for physical gold coins.
At the dealer’s counter, a terminal photographs both faces of a coin. An accredited laboratory examines the images and signs. The result is a Digital Provenance Record that anyone can read.

Both faces, under fixed light.
The dealer places the coin in a capture terminal. It photographs both faces under the same fixed light and sends the images to the laboratory whose licence it operates under.
Examined, measured, signed.
An accredited laboratory examines the images and measures the surface of the coin. It builds a surface profile, keeps it off the chain, and signs a statement that it did so.
A record is minted.
The signed statement becomes the first entry of a Digital Provenance Record on Arbitrum One, anchored weekly on Ethereum. The chain holds a salted commitment to the surface profile, never the profile, an image or a name.
Scan the receipt. Hold the record.
The terminal prints a claim key as a QR code on a paper receipt. Scan it, and the app creates a passkey account on your phone. The record moves there, and you are its holder.
Read the record. Check the coin.
Anyone can read a record at no cost. To check the coin itself, a laboratory compares a fresh capture with the stored surface profile and answers with one of three results.
Why Gold ID
For both sides of the counter.
Buyers and holders
Read any record, free.
See which laboratory examined a coin, when, and everything that has happened to its record since.
Check a coin against its record.
A terminal sends a fresh capture to the laboratory, which compares it with the surface registered for the record.
Show a buyer its history.
Point a buyer to the coin’s record before the sale, and transfer the record along with the coin.
Flag a theft publicly.
Raise a stolen flag that every reader of the record sees, with its date.
Dealers and laboratories
Registration at your counter.
A capture terminal in your shop photographs the coin and prints the customer’s paper receipt.
No keys, no customer data.
Dealers hold no key to any record, and no customer data enters the register.
Examinations signed and public.
Laboratories build a public, dated record of every examination they sign.
By design
No back door in the contracts
No party in the registry can alter or delete a recorded event through the contracts.
No names on the chain
No name, image or identity document is written to the chain, and the app collects no name.
Signed by accredited laboratories
Every examination on a record carries the signature of the laboratory that made it.
Anchored weekly on Ethereum
Every week the registry’s events are anchored on Ethereum mainnet, so anyone can check that their history has not changed.
Checking a coin
Three answers, in plain words.
A laboratory compares a fresh capture of the coin with the surface registered for its record. Every check ends in one of three answers, each with a clear next step.
Confirmed
On screenMatches the registered surface.
- What it means
- A fresh capture of the coin matches the surface registered for this record.
- What happens next
- Read the record’s history: which laboratory examined the coin, when, and everything since.
Not confirmed
On screenNot confirmed.
- What it means
- This capture did not match the registered surface.
- What happens next
- The terminal takes further captures. If the result stands, the case is referred to the laboratory.
Inconclusive
On screenCapture not usable. Try again.
- What it means
- The capture failed a quality check: framing, exposure, a foreign object or too little surface.
- What happens next
- The coin is repositioned and captured again.
Recovery
Built for real life.
Receipts get lost, phones break, coins are stolen. Each case has a defined path, and any path that could move a record gives its holder time to notice.
Receipt lost?
A dealer rescans the coin so its laboratory can sign a replacement claim key.
Phone lost?
A synced passkey comes with you to your next phone.
Key gone for good?
Get a replacement record through the coin itself, reissued by its laboratory.
Coin stolen?
Raise a stolen flag that every reader sees and that stops any reissue.
Signed by laboratories. Readable by anyone.
